Transkraniyal Manyetik Stimülasyonun Psikiyatri Alanında Kullanımı

Özet

Transkraniyal Manyetik Stimülasyon (TMS), beyin bölgelerini elektromanyetik olarak uyararak nörofizyolojik değişimler sağlayan, non-invaziv ve ağrısız bir nöromodülasyon tekniğidir. Başta dirençli depresyon olmak üzere şizofreni, anksiyete, bağımlılık ve çeşitli nörolojik hastalıkların tanısı ile tedavisinde yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır. Mekanizması, uygulama frekansına bağlı olarak nöronal uyarılabilirliği ve sinaptik plastisiteyi modüle etmeye, ayrıca nörotransmitter salınımını düzenlemeye dayanır. Genellikle iyi tolere edilen bu yöntem, nadiren baş ağrısı veya lokal ağrı gibi hafif yan etkilere yol açsa da nöbet riski taşıyan durumlar için kontrendikedir.

 

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive and painless neuromodulation technique that induces neurophysiological changes by electromagnetically stimulating specific brain regions. It is widely used in the diagnosis and treatment of various psychiatric and neurological disorders, particularly treatment-resistant depression, as well as schizophrenia, anxiety, and addiction. Its mechanism is based on modulating neuronal excitability and synaptic plasticity depending on the stimulation frequency, while also regulating neurotransmitter release. Generally well-tolerated, this method may rarely cause mild side effects such as headaches or local pain, but it remains contraindicated for conditions involving seizure risks.
