Bacteriophage therapy is an effective alternative that reintroduces the use of viruses to infect and destroy bacteria as antibiotic resistance becomes a global health crisis. This method relies primarily on lytic phages to eradicate target pathogens and achieves approximately an 85% success rate in antibiotic-resistant cases. Due to its specific activity spectrum, it preserves beneficial flora and can be administered through oral, topical, or parenteral routes, showing high efficacy against biofilms. Today, it is being modernized through various clinical studies ranging from diabetic foot infections to septicemia, supported by advancing technologies.
