Özet
Fekal mikrobiyota transplantasyonu (FMT), sağlıklı bir donörden alınan dışkının intestinal mikrobiyota dengesini yeniden sağlamak amacıyla hasta bir alıcıya aktarılması işlemidir. Günümüzde antibiyotiğe dirençli Clostridium difficile enfeksiyonu tedavisinde onaylanmış ve yüksek başarı oranına sahip bir yöntem olarak kullanılmaktadır. Tedavinin obezite, diyabet ve nöropsikiyatrik bozukluklar gibi gastrointestinal sistem dışı hastalıklarda da etkili olabileceğine dair çalışmalar devam etmekle birlikte, uzun dönem yan etkileri henüz tam olarak bilinmemektedir.
Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is the process of transferring stool from a healthy donor into the intestinal lumen of a patient to restore microbial balance. It is currently an approved and highly successful treatment for antibiotic-resistant recurrent Clostridium difficile infections. While research suggests potential efficacy in non-gastrointestinal conditions such as obesity, diabetes, and neuropsychiatric disorders, the long-term side effects and full impact of the procedure remain to be established through further controlled studies.
