Poliklinikte Kullanılabilecek Bazı Polivagal Teknikler
Özet
Dr. Stephen Porges tarafından tanımlanan polivagal teori, otonom sinir sistemini sempatik sinir sistemi, dorsal vagal sistem ve ventral vagal sistem olmak üzere üç hiyerarşik bölüme ayırarak incelemektedir. Güvende hissettiğimizde devreye giren sosyal ilişki sistemine ait ventral vagal dal sakinlik ve neşe sağlarken; sempatik sistem tehlike anında savaş ya da kaç tepkisini tetikler, ilkel dorsal vagal dal ise hayati tehdit durumlarında dona kalma ve geri çekilme stratejilerini aktive eder. Poliklinik ortamında bu sinir sistemini yeniden şekillendirmek ve farkındalığı artırmak adına otonom sinir sistemi haritalandırma tekniğiyle danışanların bedensel tepkileri, tetikleyicileri, parıltıları ve düzenleyici kaynakları belirlenir. Ayrıca poliklinikte uygulanabilecek teknikler arasında otonom tepkileri simgeleyen nesnelerin seçimi, deneyimlerin yazılması, hareketle aynalama uygulamaları, parasempatik aktiviteyi artıran yavaş kare nefesi çizimi ve ses tonlamasının gücünü kullanan çalışmalar yer almaktadır.
The polyvagal theory, defined by Dr. Stephen Porges, examines the autonomic nervous system by dividing it into three hierarchical branches: the sympathetic nervous system, the dorsal vagal system, and the ventral vagal system. While the ventral vagal branch, belonging to the social engagement system, is activated when we feel safe to provide calmness and joy, the sympathetic system triggers the fight-or-flight response in times of danger, and the primitive dorsal vagal branch activates freezing and withdrawal strategies during life-threatening situations. In order to reshape this nervous system and increase awareness in outpatient settings, clients' bodily responses, triggers, glimmers, and regulating resources are identified through the autonomic nervous system mapping technique. Furthermore, techniques that can be applied in the clinic include selecting objects that symbolize autonomic responses, writing down experiences, movement mirroring applications, slow square breath drawing that increases parasympathetic activity, and exercises utilizing the power of vocal intonation.
