Fascia is a wide, fibrous connective tissue that surrounds the body like a web, serving as a skeletal structure for muscles, organs, nerves, and vessels. As an integral part of the stomatognathic system, this tissue interacts continuously with the TMJ, muscles, teeth, and cranial structures; therefore, fascial tension or dysfunction in one area of the body can lead to pain and postural disorders in distant regions. TMJ dysfunctions are not just local jaw problems but have systemic reflections requiring a holistic approach that encompasses the digestive system, gut flora, nutritional deficiencies, and psychosocial factors. The goal of treatment is to reduce pain and restore the body's disrupted mechanical and chemical balance, thereby improving fascial structure and overall posture.
