Merkezi Sinir Sistemi Anatomisi
Sistemin kanlanması, a. carotis interna ve a. vertebralis dallarının oluşturduğu Willis poligonu aracılığıyla gerçekleştirilir.
The nervous system is a complex structure that controls body functions and responds to environmental changes. It is fundamentally divided into the central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS). The CNS consists of the brain, brainstem, cerebellum, and spinal cord, all protected by the skull and vertebral column. The basic units for nerve transmission are non-dividing neurons, while support and insulation are provided by glial cells, such as astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. The CNS is enveloped by three protective layers called meninges: the dura mater, arachnoid mater, and pia mater. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), circulating within four brain ventricles and the subarachnoid space, protects the CNS from mechanical impacts and maintains chemical balance. The brainstem is composed of the medulla oblongata, pons, and mesencephalon, housing centers that regulate vital functions. While the cerebellum ensures movement coordination, basal ganglia are involved in motor control and motivation. The diencephalon includes the thalamus, the center for sensory transmission, and the hypothalamus, which manages the autonomic and endocrine systems. The telencephalon is the highest level of control for cognitive processes and voluntary movements. Blood supply to the system is provided through the Circle of Willis, formed by branches of the internal carotid and vertebral arteries.
