Nowadays, laser applications are widely preferred in many areas of dentistry, such as restorative dental treatment, endodontics, periodontics, pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, and oral surgery. The primary advantages of these methods include minimal pain, noise, and mechanical vibration, reducing the need for anesthesia, accelerating healing, providing sterilization with less bleeding during operation, and offering high patient comfort. In the restorative field, Er:YAG and Er,Cr:YSGG lasers are utilized for removing caries and increasing acid resistance, while GaAl-As and Nd:YAG lasers are employed in hypersensitivity treatments. In endodontics, successful outcomes are achieved in root canal cleaning and disinfection, as well as in determining pulp vitality using the LDF device. In periodontics, CO2, Nd:YAG, and diode lasers stand out in procedures like gingivectomy, frenectomy, and aesthetic depigmentation due to their bleeding control advantages. However, since these technologies carry risks of causing harm to underlying tissues, eyes, and skin, it is of critical importance that treatments are performed by trained personnel and proper precautions, such as appropriate protective eyewear, are strictly taken.
