Cancer is a serious disease that causes chronic psychosocial and emotional problems in individuals alongside physical discomfort. Physical and cosmetic changes caused by treatment methods such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery lead to aesthetic concerns, negative body image, and decreased self-esteem in patients. Particularly, conditions like hair loss, mastectomy, and gynecological operations directly and adversely affect the perception of feminine identity, sexual functions, and partner relationships. Although prophylactic surgery decisions reduce cancer anxiety, they can cause psychological distress due to the disruption of bodily integrity. Permanent changes in head, neck, and bladder cancers, as well as complications like incontinence, also drive patients into social and emotional isolation. Therefore, the early involvement of mental health professionals in the treatment process and their support for patients' coping strategies with cosmetic problems are of critical importance for improving the quality of life.
