Cancer is a chronic disease that causes fear of death, anxiety, and anger, negatively affecting an individual's quality of life and problem-solving skills. Various individual and group psychotherapy methods are applied to increase patients' adaptation, and reduce stress and depressive symptoms during this process. Individual methods include psychoeducational psychotherapy focusing on illness and treatment management, cognitive behavioral therapy aiming to restructure negative thoughts, supportive psychotherapy supporting self-esteem and crisis management, and motivational interviewing techniques. Additionally, interpersonal psychotherapy addressing relationships and role changes, acceptance and commitment therapy aiming for psychological flexibility, self-management strategies providing an active role, art, narrative, and dignity therapies in the palliative period, along with telephone counseling programs that increase accessibility, are available. In group psychotherapies, mindfulness-based interventions, psychoeducational, and cognitive behavioral group therapies enable patients to find social support and share similar experiences through a sense of belonging. Tailored to the specific needs of the cancer patient, these multidisciplinary approaches significantly improve treatment adherence and psychological well-being.
