Radyasyon Maruziyetinin Psikolojik Etkileri
Advancements in medicine and technology expand diagnostic, therapeutic, and daily conveniences while accelerating exposure to both ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. Although science historically focused on physical harms, nuclear disasters like Chernobyl and Fukushima proved that radiation causes devastating psychosocial impacts, triggering mass displacement, helplessness, and trauma. At the cellular level, radiation induces DNA damage, free radicals, and oxidative stress via voltage-gated calcium channels. This disruption impairs neurotransmitter transmission, causing neuroinflammation, white matter loss, and microvascular damage in the central nervous system. The hippocampus, vital for learning and memory, is highly vulnerable; its impairment leads to cognitive decline and executive dysfunction. Chronic occupational or daily exposure from mobile devices and base stations triggers insidious headaches, sleep disturbances, circadian rhythm disruption, irritability, fatigue, and depressive symptoms. Furthermore, fetal exposure increases the risk of mental retardation and ADHD in adulthood. Integrating psychosocial support into radiation recovery programs is a critical necessity for holistic health.
