Environmental factors, genetic predispositions, and dietary habits play a critical role in the development and progression of colorectal cancer, with vitamin D deficiency emerging as a significant risk factor. Vitamin D, obtained through sunlight, diet, and supplements, exerts antitumor effects via vitamin D receptors (VDR) by suppressing cell proliferation, inducing apoptosis, and regulating gut microbiota. Clinical studies demonstrate that patients with higher vitamin D levels after surgery experience lower recurrence rates and improved survival outcomes.
