Vitamin D deficiency is a common finding, particularly in patients suffering from migraine and tension-type headaches. The vitamin's role in reducing inflammation through brain receptors, regulating neurotransmitters, and supporting magnesium absorption explains its critical function in headache mechanisms. While studies indicate that vitamin D supplementation can effectively reduce attack frequency and duration, especially in migraineurs, more comprehensive research is required before recommending it routinely for all patients.
