Anne Sütü ve Emzirme

Özet

Anne sütü, bebeklerin sağlıklı gelişimi için en kritik besin kaynağı olup Dünya Sağlık Örgütü tarafından ilk altı ay sadece anne sütü, sonrasında ise en az iki yaşına kadar tamamlayıcı gıdalarla birlikte verilmesi önerilmektedir. İçeriği zamanla değişen bu dinamik sıvı; kolostrum, geçiş sütü ve olgun süt evrelerinden geçer. Anne sütü, sindirimi kolay proteinler, temel yağ asitleri, laktoz ve yüksek biyoyararlanıma sahip mineraller içerir. Ayrıca bağışıklığı destekleyen immünoglobulinler, kök hücreler ve tümör hücrelerine karşı etkili HAMLET gibi biyoaktif bileşenlerle bebeği enfeksiyonlardan korur. Laktasyon süreci hormonal kontrol altında olup sütün devamlılığı için memelerin düzenli boşaltılması ve doğru emzirme tekniği esastır. Sütün sağılması ve uygun koşullarda saklanması, emzirmenin sürdürülebilirliğini artırır. Maternal enfeksiyonlar veya belirli ilaç kullanımları gibi nadir durumlar dışında emzirme teşvik edilmelidir. COVID-19 döneminde dahi gerekli hijyen önlemleri alınarak emzirmenin devam ettirilmesi önerilmektedir. Sonuç olarak, anne sütü her bebeğin hakkıdır ve toplum genelinde bu bilincin artırılması stratejik bir önem taşımaktadır.

Breast milk is the most critical nutritional source for the healthy development of infants, and the World Health Organization recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, followed by continued breastfeeding with complementary foods until at least two years of age. This dynamic fluid, whose composition changes over time, passes through the stages of colostrum, transitional milk, and mature milk. Breast milk contains easily digestible proteins, essential fatty acids, lactose, and minerals with high bioavailability. It also protects the baby against infections through bioactive components such as immunoglobulins, stem cells, and HAMLET, which is effective against tumor cells. The lactation process is under hormonal control, and regular emptying of the breasts and correct breastfeeding techniques are essential for the continuity of milk production. Expressing and storing milk under appropriate conditions increases the sustainability of breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be encouraged except in rare cases such as maternal infections or certain drug use. Even during the COVID-19 period, it is recommended to continue breastfeeding by taking necessary hygiene precautions. In conclusion, breast milk is a right for every baby, and increasing this awareness throughout society is of strategic importance.
