Vitamin metabolism disorders are serious conditions caused by genetic defects in the absorption, transport, and activation of vitamins, resulting in systemic or neurological involvement. Specific gene mutations in the metabolism of essential vitamins such as thiamine, riboflavin, B6, and folate can lead to neurological sequelae and life-threatening episodes of encephalopathy. Early diagnosis and appropriate vitamin supplementation can prevent neurological damage and dramatically improve the clinical condition in these disorders.
