Headaches have been a chronic health issue throughout human history, from ancient Neolithic trepanation practices to modern times, causing significant functional disability and loss of productivity. Early medical observations by figures such as Hippocrates, Galen, and Avicenna laid the groundwork for understanding the etiology and classification of these conditions. Contemporary epidemiological research highlights an increasing prevalence of headaches among children and adolescents, underscoring their status as a substantial global health and economic burden. Despite centuries of observation and treatment attempts, headaches remain one of the most common central nervous system disorders that continue to severely impact quality of life worldwide.
