Abusive head trauma, often caused by shaking infants, serves as a leading cause of non-accidental mortality during early childhood. Diagnosis relies heavily on clinical suspicion, comprehensive history-taking, and neuroimaging, as symptoms are frequently non-specific and easily misdiagnosed. Given the high likelihood of irreversible neurological sequelae and permanent brain damage, primary prevention through caregiver education and protective measures remains the most critical intervention.
