Özet
Epilepsi, dünyada yaklaşık 46 milyon insanı etkileyen, her yaş ve coğrafyada görülen en yaygın nörolojik hastalıklardan biridir. Hastalığın görülme sıklığı ve toplumsal yükü, gelir düzeyi ile sosyoekonomik faktörlere bağlı olarak ülkeden ülkeye önemli farklılıklar göstermektedir. Tedaviye erişim ve erken teşhis, nöbetlerin kontrol altına alınmasında ve prognozun iyileştirilmesinde kritik rol oynamaktadır. Yaşam süresinin uzamasıyla birlikte yaşlı nüfusta vaka sayısında artış gözlenirken, mortalite riski genel popülasyona göre daha yüksektir.
Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological conditions, affecting approximately 46 million people globally across all ages and regions. The incidence and societal burden of the disease vary significantly between countries based on socioeconomic factors and access to healthcare. Early diagnosis and proper treatment are critical for managing seizures and improving the long-term prognosis for patients. While the disease burden is shifting toward an older demographic due to increased life expectancy, the mortality rate remains higher for individuals with epilepsy compared to the general population.
