Özet

Fokal epilepsiler, çocuklarda görülen yeni başlangıçlı epilepsilerin büyük kısmını oluşturur ve etiyolojileri yapısal beyin anomalilerinden genetik yatkınlıklara kadar geniş bir yelpazeye yayılır. Tedavi stratejileri, antiepileptik ilaç kullanımıyla başlarken, ilaca dirençli vakalarda epilepsi cerrahisi, diyet tedavileri ve vagus sinir uyarımı gibi alternatif yöntemler değerlendirilmektedir. Tanı süreci klinik gözlem, EEG bulguları ve ayrıntılı beyin görüntüleme yöntemlerinin birleşimine dayanır; doğru sınıflandırma ve kişiselleştirilmiş tedavi yaklaşımı prognoz için kritik öneme sahiptir.

Focal epilepsies constitute a significant portion of new-onset epilepsies in children, with etiologies ranging widely from structural brain abnormalities to genetic predispositions. Treatment strategies begin with antiepileptic medication; however, in drug-resistant cases, alternative methods such as epilepsy surgery, dietary therapies, and vagus nerve stimulation are considered. The diagnostic process relies on a combination of clinical observation, EEG findings, and detailed neuroimaging, where accurate classification and personalized treatment approaches are critical for prognosis.
