Neonatal seizures are the most common neurological symptom in newborns and are frequently associated with acute brain injury. Accurate diagnosis and classification, primarily through EEG monitoring, are essential for determining effective treatment strategies. While phenobarbital remains the first-line therapy, management of refractory cases requires targeted pharmacological approaches based on the underlying etiology. Early intervention is crucial for minimizing long-term neurodevelopmental risks associated with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, as well as genetic and metabolic conditions.
