Acquired epilepsies arise from neurological damage caused by factors such as trauma, stroke, and tumors, which trigger shared molecular mechanisms like glutamate-induced neurotoxicity and inflammation. The management of these conditions requires an understanding of specific epileptogenic processes to guide tailored pharmacological interventions or, where necessary, surgical procedures. Treatment strategies prioritize achieving effective seizure control while carefully balancing antiepileptic drug selection with the patient's individual neurological and cognitive needs.
