Childhood epilepsy requires early detection and treatment to prevent long-term functional and cognitive damage, especially in drug-resistant cases. When medication fails, surgical interventions—including resection or disconnection procedures—are essential to either cure or manage seizures by targeting the specific epileptic zone. Comprehensive pre-surgical evaluations, such as advanced neuroimaging, are critical to determine candidacy and ensure optimal outcomes. Additionally, neuromodulation techniques like vagus nerve stimulation and deep brain stimulation provide effective alternatives for patients who are not suitable candidates for traditional resection surgery.
