Özet

Epilepsi, çocuklarda nöbetlerin ötesinde psikiyatrik, bilişsel ve uyku bozuklukları gibi birçok komorbiditeyi beraberinde getirerek yaşam kalitesini olumsuz etkilemektedir. Özellikle dirençli epilepsi vakalarında, SUDEP (Epilepside Ani Beklenmedik Ölüm) riski artmakta olup, bu durumun patofizyolojisinde kardiyak ve solunum disfonksiyonlarının rol oynadığı düşünülmektedir. Nöbet kontrolünün sağlanması, erken tanı ve uygun tedavi stratejileri ile mortalite riskinin azaltılması hedeflenmekte, ailelerin bilgilendirilmesi ve riskli hastaların yönetimi hayati önem taşımaktadır.

Epilepsy significantly affects children's quality of life, bringing along various comorbidities such as psychiatric, cognitive, and sleep disorders beyond recurring seizures. Especially in refractory cases, the risk of SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) increases, and cardiac and respiratory dysfunctions are considered to play a role in its pathophysiology. Achieving seizure control, early diagnosis, and implementing appropriate treatment strategies are aimed at reducing mortality risk, while patient education and the management of high-risk cases remain of vital importance.
