Psikojenik Non-Epileptik Nöbetler
Özet
Çocukluk döneminde sıkça karşılaşılan epilepsi, benzer klinik belirtiler gösteren ancak farklı etiyolojiye sahip psikojenik non-epileptik nöbetlerle karıştırılabilmektedir. Gerçek nöbetlerden farklı olarak patolojik EEG bulgusu göstermeyen bu durumların yanlış teşhisi, hastaların uzun süre gereksiz antiepileptik tedavi almasına ve ciddi yan etkilere maruz kalmasına yol açmaktadır. Klinik öykü, video kayıtları ve özellikle video-EEG monitorizasyonu, ayırıcı tanıda doğru teşhisi sağlayarak hastaların yanlış tedaviden korunmasında kritik rol oynar.
Epilepsy in children is frequently confused with psychogenic non-epileptic seizures due to similar clinical presentations despite distinct underlying etiologies. Unlike true epilepsy, these seizures lack pathological EEG findings, yet their misdiagnosis leads to years of unnecessary antiepileptic treatment and associated side effects. Accurate differentiation through detailed clinical history, video documentation, and video-EEG monitoring is essential to prevent incorrect therapy and improve patient management.
