Insomnia is a prevalent sleep disorder in childhood characterized by difficulty falling or staying asleep despite adequate opportunity, resulting in significant daytime impairment. Classified under ICSD-3 criteria, this condition is particularly common among children with underlying neurodevelopmental or psychiatric issues and involves complex, multifactorial causes. Behavioral therapy and environmental adjustments serve as the primary treatment approach, while pharmacological options are considered only as a secondary intervention. Effective management necessitates a comprehensive clinical evaluation of the child’s sleep habits and environment to identify and address specific behavioral triggers.
