Özet

SARS-CoV-2 kaynaklı COVID-19, başlangıçta solunum yolu hastalığı olarak tanımlansa da multisistemik etkileriyle beyin dahil pek çok organı tutabilmektedirÇocuklarda yetişkinlere kıyasla daha nadir ve hafif seyretse de hastalık tat kaybı, baş ağrısı, ensefalopati ve nadiren inme gibi nörolojik komplikasyonlara yol açabilmektedirPatogenezde viral invazyon, inflamatuar sitokin fırtınası ve endotel hasarı gibi faktörler rol oynarken, kronik nörolojik rahatsızlığı olan çocuklar daha yüksek risk altındadırBu nedenle, özellikle ağır seyreden vakalarda nörolojik belirtilerin yakından izlenmesi ve uygun klinik tedavinin uygulanması büyük önem taşımaktadır.

 

Although initially characterized as a respiratory disease, COVID-19 can affect multiple systems, including the brain, due to its multisystemic natureWhile neurological complications in children are rarer and generally milder than in adults, they can manifest as symptoms such as headaches, loss of taste, encephalopathy, and occasionally strokesThe underlying mechanisms—including direct viral invasion, cytokine storms, and endothelial damage—pose higher risks for children with pre-existing chronic neurological conditionsConsequently, careful monitoring of neurological signs is essential for managing severe cases and mitigating potential impacts.
