Çocuklarda Ventriküler Şant Enfeksiyonlarının Yönetimi ve Cerrahi Yaklaşım

Özet

Hidrosefali tedavisinde kullanılan ventriküler şantlar, enfeksiyon ve mekanik arıza gibi ciddi komplikasyonlara yol açabilen ve yüksek morbidite riski taşıyan cerrahi müdahalelerdir. Şant enfeksiyonları genellikle operasyon sırasındaki kontaminasyondan kaynaklanmakta olup ateş, bulantı ve cerrahi bölgede eritem gibi belirtilerle kendini göstermektedir. Tanı sürecinde kan tetkikleri, BOS analizi ve radyolojik görüntüleme yöntemleri kritik rol oynarken, tedavi süreci genellikle enfekte şantın çıkarılması ve hedefe yönelik antibiyotik sağaltımını içeren multidisipliner bir yaklaşımı gerektirmektedir. Enfeksiyon riskini minimize etmek için cerrahi tekniklerin iyileştirilmesi, operasyon süresinin kısalması ve uygun profilaktik önlemlerin alınması büyük önem taşımaktadır.

 

Ventricular shunts used in the treatment of hydrocephalus are surgical interventions that can lead to serious complications such as infection and mechanical failure, carrying a significant risk of morbidity. Shunt infections usually result from contamination during the operation and manifest with symptoms like fever, nausea, and erythema at the surgical site. While blood tests, CSF analysis, and radiological imaging play a critical role in the diagnostic process, the treatment protocol typically requires a multidisciplinary approach involving the removal of the infected shunt and targeted antibiotic therapy. To minimize the risk of infection, it is crucial to improve surgical techniques, shorten operation times, and implement appropriate prophylactic measures.
