Özet

Çocuklarda gözlerin yanlış hizalanması olarak bilinen şaşılık (strabismus), binoküler görme için gerekli olan kas ve sinir sisteminin uyum içinde çalışamaması durumudur. Tanı, nonparalitik ve paralitik türlerin ayırt edilmesi, ayrıntılı öykü ve fizik muayene yöntemleriyle konulur; tedavi ise etyolojiye bağlı olarak görme netliğini ve binoküler sistemi korumayı hedeflenir. Konjenital veya kazanılmış olabilen oftalmoplejiler, sistemik hastalıklar veya intrakraniyal kitleler gibi ciddi tabloların habercisi olabileceğinden hızlı ve doğru tanı hayati önem taşır.

 

Strabismus, commonly known as crossed eyes, occurs when the eyes fail to align properly due to a disruption in the synchronized functioning of the visual sensory system, nerves, and eye muscles. Diagnosis involves distinguishing between non-paralytic and paralytic types through detailed clinical history and physical examination, with treatment focused on preserving visual acuity and binocular vision based on the underlying etiology. Since congenital or acquired ophthalmoplegia can indicate systemic diseases or intracranial masses, rapid and accurate diagnosis is critical for clinical management.
