Özet

Nörolojik bozukluğa sahip çocuklarda ağız ve diş sağlığı, sistemik hastalıklar ve özel bakım gereksinimleri nedeniyle yüksek çürük ve periodontal hastalık riski taşımaktadır. Tedavi planlamasında hastanın uyum düzeyi ve genel tıbbi durumu dikkate alınarak, koruyucu uygulamalar, davranış yönlendirme teknikleri veya sedasyon/genel anestezi yöntemleri tercih edilmektedir. Ebeveyn ve bakıcıların ağız hijyeni eğitimi konusunda desteklenmesi, tedavi süreçlerinin başarısı ve sürdürülebilirliği açısından büyük önem taşımaktadır. Multidisipliner bir yaklaşımla, nöroloji hekimleri ve diş hekimleri arasındaki iletişim, özel gereksinimli çocukların ağız sağlığını korumada kritik rol oynar.

Oral health in children with neurological disorders is characterized by a higher risk of caries and periodontal disease due to systemic conditions and special care requirements. Treatment planning involves careful consideration of patient cooperation and general health, necessitating preventive care, behavioral management, or sedation/general anesthesia as appropriate. Supporting parents and caregivers with oral hygiene training is vital for the success and sustainability of treatment outcomes. A multidisciplinary approach, fostering effective communication between neurologists and dentists, plays a critical role in preserving oral health for these children.
