Complex Chiari Decompression With Subsequent Syringosubarachnoid Shunt
Özet
8 yaşında bir kız çocuğunda skolyoz taraması sırasında saptanan Chiari Tip 1 malformasyonu ve buna eşlik eden geniş holokord siringomiyeli vakası ele alınmaktadır. Hastaya yapılan Chiari dekompresyon cerrahisine rağmen bir yıl boyunca küçülmeyen dirençli sirinks (syrinx) nedeniyle siringosubaranknoid şant uygulanmıştır. Şant yerleştirildikten sonra sirinksin boyutunda anlamlı bir azalma gözlemlenmiş, hastanın nörolojik durumu stabil kalmış ve skolyoz eğriliğinde iyileşme saptanmıştır.
An 8-year-old girl diagnosed with Chiari Malformation Type 1 and an extensive holocord syrinx underwent Chiari decompression and C1 laminectomy. Due to the persistence of the syrinx one year after the initial decompression, a syringosubarachnoid shunt was subsequently placed. Following the shunt procedure, imaging confirmed a significant reduction in syrinx size, while the patient remained neurologically stable and showed improvement in her scoliosis.
