Sosyal Medya Bağımlılığı
Özet
Sosyal medya bağımlılığı, internet aracılığıyla bilgi akışı ve etkileşim sağlayan bu mecranın aşırı ve kontrolsüz kullanımı sonucu günlük aktivitelerin aksamasıyla ortaya çıkan davranışsal bir hastalıktır. Özellikle düşük özgüvenli, iletişim güçlüğü çeken ve dijital dünyada idealize ettikleri profillerle var olan bireyler ile akıştan geri kalma korkusu (FOMO) yaşayan kişilerde bu bağımlılık daha sık görülmektedir. Güncel DSM-5 kılavuzunda henüz resmi bir hastalık olarak tanımlanmasa da araştırılması gereken başlıklar altında sınıflandırılan bu durum, tolerans, geri çekilme ve zihinsel meşguliyet gibi kriterleri barındıran Sosyal Medya Bozukluğu Ölçeği ile değerlendirilmektedir. Küresel boyutta günlük ortalama kullanım 2 saat 27 dakika iken, Türkiye'de bu süre 2 saat 59 dakikayı bulmakta ve bağımlılığın kullanıcıların %43'ünü etkilediği düşünülmektedir. Biyolojik olarak dopamin yolağındaki reseptör ve taşıyıcı miktarlarındaki azalmalarla ilişkilendirilen hastalık; depresyon, yeme bozuklukları, sosyal fobi ve DEHB gibi rahatsızlıklarla yüksek birliktelik göstermektedir. Tedavide, Kimberly Young tarafından geliştirilen ve davranış değişikliği ile bilişsel yeniden yapılandırma aşamalarını içeren İnternet Bağımlılığına Özel BDT, süre yönetimini optimize etmede en etkili psikolojik yöntem olarak öne çıkarken; eşlik eden psikiyatrik semptomlara yönelik antidepresanlar ve DEHB ilaçları gibi farmakolojik müdahaleler de sürece dahil edilmektedir.
Social media addiction is a behavioral disorder characterized by the excessive and uncontrolled use of internet-mediated communication tools that facilitate information flow and interaction, leading to the disruption of daily activities. This addiction is more prevalent among individuals with low self-esteem, communication difficulties, and those who exist through idealized profiles in the digital world, as well as individuals experiencing the fear of missing out (FOMO). Although it is not yet classified as an official disorder in the DSM-5, it is included under conditions requiring further research and is evaluated using the Social Media Disorder Scale, which includes criteria such as tolerance, withdrawal, and preoccupation. While the average global daily usage is 2 hours 27 minutes, this duration reaches 2 hours 59 minutes in Turkey, and it is estimated that social media addiction affects 43% of users. Neurobiologically linked to reductions in receptors and transporters within the dopamine pathway, this disorder shows high comorbidity with depression, eating disorders, social phobia, and ADHD. For treatment, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Internet Addiction developed by Kimberly Young, which incorporates behavior modification and cognitive restructuring, stands out as the most effective psychological method for optimizing time management, while pharmacological interventions such as antidepressants and ADHD medications are also utilized to address comorbid psychiatric symptoms.
