Özet

Climate change is a global problem affecting human health in multifaceted ways, and the digestive system bears a significant burden of these effects. This chapter examines the impacts of rising temperatures, changing rainfall patterns, and extreme weather events on food security, pathogen spread, and exposure to environmental toxins and allergens. Disruptions in agriculture and food production can lead to malnutrition and microbiota imbalance, while rising temperatures facilitate the spread of infectious agents such as Salmonella and E. coli. These processes lead to an increase in gastrointestinal infections, inflammatory bowel diseases, and chronic digestive system disorders. Furthermore, climate-related stress and environmental pollution can disrupt the balance of the gut microbiota, weakening immune and metabolic functions. Sustainable agricultural practices, water management, and strong public health strategies are crucial for mitigating these effects. Raising public awareness and implementing adaptation policies are essential for protecting digestive health in the context of climate change.
