The Impact of Climate Change on the Digestive System
Özet
This chapter, titled "The Impacts of Global Climate Change on Human Health," addresses one of the most critical challenges of our time. Going beyond abstract environmental concerns, it analyzes the direct and indirect consequences of a warming planet on human health. Readers will explore the complex ways in which climate change impacts well-being, including increased heat-related illnesses and mortality from extreme heat waves, and physical trauma from exacerbated weather events such as floods and hurricanes. The text also addresses indirect, cascading effects such as the spread of vector-borne diseases (such as malaria and dengue fever) due to changing habitats, increased waterborne disease risks following pollution, and respiratory impacts from deteriorating air quality caused by wildfires and ozone depletion. In addition, the chapter examines the profound consequences of the increased burden on mental health, including food insecurity, malnutrition, and eco-anxiety. This essential reading highlights the disproportionate impacts on vulnerable populations and emphasizes the need for urgent public health adaptation and mitigation strategies.
